Miniatures
Hi, my name is Falk. I love building models and painting miniatures!
Modelmaking is a topic that has been in my life since forever. I made my first memories in modeling when I was a child. My dad flew RC planes and I spent so much time with him on the airfield. I made my first model experiences with a wooden glider named “der Kleine Uhu”.
A couple years later I started building plastic model kits from Revell. I really liked the fact that Revell showed the true model size on the package and since I was a kid that was the main point which influenced my spending decision. So I bought the biggest models my pocket money would allow. I remember two models especially well: Fuchs and Marder in 1:72 scale.
During this time – understandably – my main focus was the building time. I wanted to finish the models quickly so I could play with them. I still remember little Falk sitting in his tree house on a hot summer day glueing the models together and coating them in with a thick layer of Revell enamel paint. So thick, that three days later I still left fingerprints on the models.
For a few years my focus shifted away from scale modeling. But when I started studying aviation engineering at university the flame rekindled. I started building and flying RC planes again. I bought my first 3D-printer, constructed and painted CAD models. But once again other things got more important.
When covid struck I started painting – something I liked to do my whole life. I also started working a creative job. Since then I did a lot of painting with oils, acrylics, watercolors and many more mediums.
In 2023 I had a bad cycling crash. I couldn’t move my left arm very well and lost most of my fine motor skills. I started scale modeling to get them back. But differently than during my earlier modeling experiences, I had the skills to paint the models “the right way”. I started building tanks and tabletop miniatures and used my artistic knowledge to do a deeper dive into the scale modeling hobby.
Autumn 2024 I finished my “Kesselwagen” diorama and when I presented it at my local hobby shop, people suggested I should start making videos about scale modeling.
Another passion of mine always has been teaching. When I was in school I started giving guitar lessons. When I turned 16, I started to work in my dads business as an instructor for sailing and driving motorboats.
With YouTube I saw the opportunity to combine my passions for scale modeling and teaching. The Channel grew pretty fast and people were thrilled by my work. I was blown away!
Because of my work on YouTube, people approached me and asked if I wanted to do workshops. It sounded like a great opportunity to build a connection between my creative hobby and my passion for teaching.
This will be the next step. I want you to join me!
